Festival of Flowers
Visit Pioneer Courthouse Square as it hosts the 26th Annual Festival of Flowers celebration in the heart of downtown Portland. This year’s design, “Weaving Tradition” by SRG Partnership Architects, is inspired by the bright colors and intricate patterns of the Native American blankets woven by Pendleton Woolen Mills since 1909. Nearly 20,000 plants will blanket the Square in the colorful triangular pattern of the Eye Dazzler, a blanket created as a tribute to the Navajo weavers of the late 1800s who began using colorful new dyes in their handspun wool rugs. The annuals, perennials, herbs and reclaimed timber benches in “Weaving Tradition” convey Oregon’s strong custom of sustainable backyard gardening. The flower sale kicks off June 16th and will offer a wide variety of plants including salvia, impatiens, lobelia, pansies, begonias, vegetables, grasses and many more starting at only $.83 a piece!
